What to Expect When You Hire the Coach & Horses Mobile Bar

Hiring a mobile bar should be straightforward. You want great drinks, experienced staff and a setup that actually works for your event without any drama on the day. That’s exactly what the Coach & Horses mobile bar is built around.

We’re not a company that set up a bar hire operation from scratch. We’re a pub. We’ve been running a busy bar in Abergavenny for over 50 years, and we’ve taken everything that makes a great pub experience and brought it to events across South Wales and beyond. Here’s exactly what you get when you book us.

A proper bar setup, wherever you need it

When we arrive at your event, we bring everything with us. The bar, the staff, the drinks and all the kit needed to create a proper bar atmosphere rather than just a table with some bottles on it.

For smaller and private events like weddings and parties, we can set up what genuinely feels like a pub away from home. We’re talking LED lighting, windbreaks, seating area in front of the bar, a dartboard, cocktail setup and a full draught system. It’s designed to feel like a real bar, because that’s what we know how to do.

For larger events, gigs and festivals, we scale up accordingly. We can add taps, expand the setup and handle the kind of volume that bigger events demand. We’re used to a busy bar. That’s not a problem for us.

The drinks selection

Our draught lineup includes Staropramen, Madri, Carling, Guinness, Atlantic, Cold River, Felt and Rekorderlig. We also carry rotating real ales and local Welsh drinks throughout the year, so there’s always something a bit different on alongside the regulars.

Beyond draught, we offer cocktails, wines, mocktails and alcohol-free options as standard. Bottles and cans can be tailored to whatever suits your event and your crowd. If you’ve got something specific in mind, just ask and we’ll do our best to make it work.

The idea is simple. Your guests should be able to order what they actually want, not just what happens to be available. We put the same thought into a mobile event bar as we do into our bar back at the pub.

Experienced staff who know what they're doing

This is where we think we genuinely stand apart. Our bar staff come from a real pub background. Between the team, there’s a serious amount of experience behind the bar in a busy environment. That matters when you’ve got a queue of people waiting to be served at your event.

We’re easy to work with and we adapt to the vibe of the event. If it’s a more formal occasion, we’ll match that. If it’s a festival or a big party night, we’re just as comfortable there. The goal is always the same: make sure your guests have a great time and the bar runs smoothly so you don’t have to think about it.

We’re also fully licensed and insured, so you and your venue can relax on that front too.

The buy-back system

One thing worth knowing is how we handle unused stock. A lot of mobile bar hire companies charge you for all the stock upfront whether it gets used or not. We do things differently.

Because we’re an established pub, any unused stock can come straight back to the bar. That means we can offer a buy-back on unused drinks at a slightly discounted rate for any event, so you’re not left paying for bottles that never got opened. It’s a small thing but it can make a real difference to your overall spend.

What we need from you and your venue

We keep it simple on our end. All we need from the venue is space, a power supply and access to water. If power isn’t available on site, we can sort a generator, so even outdoor and off-grid events are covered.

Before every event, we’ll assess the venue in advance so we know exactly what we’re working with on the day. This is why we ask for a minimum of two weeks notice when you book. It gives us time to plan the setup properly and make sure everything runs without a hitch.

What events do we cover?

We cover a wide range of events including weddings, private parties, corporate events, gigs, smaller festivals and everything in between. We’re currently serving events across South Wales, including Abergavenny, Hereford, Bristol, Cardiff and the surrounding areas, and we’re happy to travel further for the right event.

Whether you’re planning something intimate for 50 people or a larger event for several hundred, get in touch and we’ll talk through what works best for your setup.

How to book

All bookings start with an enquiry. Fill in our form with your event type, rough capacity and date and we’ll come back to you with everything you need to know. Pricing is custom quoted based on your event, so you only pay for what you actually need.
